North America is a longer voyage, so good planning makes a real difference to cost and quality. This guide explains how importers in Canada and the USA can order from Selim Charcoal: popular grades, packing for long transit, container loads and delivery terms.
- Lump charcoal (citrus, casuarina, mixed) is in demand for restaurants and retail.
- Coconut shisha cubes are available in 25 and 27 mm.
- Long transit calls for sealed packing and loading in dry conditions.
- We quote Ex Works or delivered to the port you name, such as Montreal.
- Customs clearance at destination is the importer’s responsibility.
Products in demand in North America
- Citrus charcoal and casuarina charcoal for restaurants and grills.
- Mixed hardwood charcoal as an economical retail option.
- Coconut shisha cubes for hookah shops and lounges.
- Hexagonal compressed charcoal for long grilling sessions, burning 5 to 6 hours.

Loads and shipping to Canadian and US ports
A 40ft container holds about 18 tonnes of lump charcoal in 20 kg sacks, about 20 tonnes in paper bags and 27 tonnes of compressed charcoal. We quote Ex Works or delivered to port (CFR / CIF), for example Montreal or any port the buyer names, with freight confirmed at the time of order.
Because the voyage is long, we pay attention to sealed packing and dry loading. See our guide to storing charcoal and keeping it dry.

Payment and customs
Our usual terms are 50% advance by bank transfer and 50% against shipping documents, with a proforma invoice before confirmation. Customs clearance and duties at destination are the importer’s responsibility, so check your country’s requirements with your broker before shipment. The full process is in our ordering and shipping guide.
