Casuarina is a common tree in Egypt, often planted as windbreaks around farmland. Its wood is hard and heavy, which makes the charcoal it produces one of the most requested grades for restaurants and wholesale. This guide explains what it is and how it compares with our other lump charcoal grades.
- Casuarina charcoal comes from hardwood and gives a long, steady burn.
- It suits restaurants, grills and long use.
- It is carbonized in a dedicated 20-ton kiln over a 6-day cycle.
- Available in 5, 10 and 20 kg sacks or under your own brand.
- A 40ft container holds about 18 tonnes.
What is casuarina charcoal?
Casuarina charcoal is lump charcoal made from casuarina wood by carbonization. At our factory it is carbonized in a large dedicated kiln with a 20-ton capacity, and each cycle takes 6 days so the wood carbonizes fully and cools down. It is then sorted and packed. Which is better for restaurants, casuarina or citrus?
Both work well: casuarina is known for a long burn, citrus for its aroma. Testing a sample is best.
