Many importers and wholesalers in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman are looking for a charcoal supplier that offers three things: consistent quality from one shipment to the next, packaging that suits their market, and on-time delivery. That is where charcoal export from Egypt to Saudi Arabia and the Gulf makes practical sense, thanks to the short distance, the wide range of Egyptian charcoal and the option of dealing directly with the factory.
In this guide we explain what Gulf importers need to know before signing a contract: the right charcoal for each type of business, documents and requirements, packing and shipping options, and how to get a clear quotation.
Why Do Gulf Traders Import Charcoal from Egypt?
- Short distance: Egypt sits on the Red Sea, so sea freight to Saudi and Gulf ports is shorter than from many other origins.
- Product range: a single factory can supply coconut hookah briquettes, BBQ briquettes and natural lump charcoal.
- Direct factory supply: buying from a manufacturer instead of a broker gives you better control over specifications, packaging and price.
- Private label packing: important for distributors building their own brand in the Gulf.

Charcoal Types for the Gulf Market
The right product depends on the buyer’s business, so it is best to define the end use before requesting a quote.
Hookah charcoal for cafes and shisha lounges
Most distributors in this sector rely on coconut briquette cubes, which burn evenly and suit daily use in cafes. We offer 22, 25, 26 and 27 mm, and you can choose the size your customers prefer. For production details and sizes, read Coconut Briquette Charcoal: Specifications and Sizes.

BBQ charcoal for restaurants and grill houses
Restaurants need charcoal that lasts through long service hours without constant replacement. Hexagonal BBQ briquettes burn for 5 to 6 hours and suit restaurants, restaurant suppliers and heating use.
Natural lump charcoal
For buyers who want natural wood charcoal, we supply orange wood charcoal, casuarina charcoal and mixed hardwood BBQ charcoal to the agreed specifications and sizes.

Import Requirements and Documents
Requirements differ between Gulf countries and can change, so importers should confirm with the authorities in their own country before shipping. In general, the usual export documents from Egypt include:
- Commercial invoice.
- Packing list showing the number of packages and weights.
- Certificate of origin. An Arab certificate of origin can be issued to benefit from customs exemptions under the Greater Arab Free Trade Area agreement, subject to the destination country’s rules.
- Bill of lading.
- Any additional certificates required by the destination country, agreed before shipment.
A note for Saudi Arabia
According to published requirements of the Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, importing charcoal requires a prior license, sound packaging and a label on each pack showing the brand name, charcoal type, weight, origin, production date and license number. We therefore recommend that Saudi importers obtain the license first, then send us the required label details so we can print them on the packs during preparation.
Packaging for Your Market
Good packaging protects charcoal from breakage and moisture in transit and shapes how your customers see the product. We offer several options, which you can review on our packaging page, including:
- Inner and outer cartons for hookah charcoal, in agreed weights.
- Bags for lump charcoal and BBQ charcoal.
- Private label packing, with the details required by the destination country printed on the pack.
Shipping from Egypt to Gulf Ports
Cargo usually ships in sea containers from Egyptian ports to destination ports such as Jeddah and Dammam in Saudi Arabia and Jebel Ali in the UAE. The port, loading method and number of containers depend on the order volume.
Our quotations are in US dollars per ton, ex-factory (EXW). Other shipping terms can be agreed to suit the buyer and the destination port.
